Adopt-A-Highway cleanup – In October, 2012, several Apache employees spent a couple of hours cleaning up the Apache Nitrogen Products, Inc. designated mile of Hwy 80 between Benson and St. David. This volunteer effort provides a cleaner and safer road for all of us to travel on each day.
An Apache Representative spoke at the City of Benson Economic Development Committee meeting in early November, 2012. We provided information about the status of the Company, and expectations for the future. This information will help the committee in their efforts to understand current businesses.
As we have done for several years, Apache is supporting the Society of Mining Engineers – University of Arizona Student Chapter, by participating in the annual fundraising event in early December, 2012, the Diggers & Duffers Golf Tournament. Apache entered a team to play in the event, and signed up as the tee-shirt sponsor by providing funds for the group. The funds are used to sponsor college Mining Engineer students to attend the annual SME Mining Convention each year. It is our pleasure to support these hardworking students, and future Miners.
Apache Nitrogen Products, Inc. (ANPI), participates as a strong and giving corporate neighbor to local and area charities, schools, and non-profits. Written donation requests of less than $250 are generally forwarded to the Apache Activities & Advisory Committee for review. This committee is made up of a cross section of ANPI employees from various areas of the Company. The committee votes whether to support a specific request. The committee tends to be particularly supportive of requests that benefit children or other groups that have limited means for generating their own funds. Donation requests in excess of $250 are generally reviewed by the ANPI Executive Team. Particularly during strong financial years, often dictated by the cyclical nature of the mining and/or agriculture industries, ANPI is proud to have donated thousands of dollars to local needs each year.
Some of the major recipients have been the St. David Heritage and Cultural Arts Society, and numerous Benson VFW, Rotary, Kiwanis, Senior Citizens Center, and Meals On Wheels events. In addition, ANPI is a founding member of the Tucson economic development group, TREO, and a strong supporter of the Catalina Council of Boy Scouts.
ANPI donates as many as 50 authentic Apache Powder Dynamite Boxes to local entities for use in Raffles or as prizes each year. These original boxes are highly sought after collector’s items, and have earned as much as $250 in fund raising auctions.
Requests for donations or Powder boxes may be submitted in writing to the Human Resources Department at ANPI, P.O. Box 700, Benson, AZ 85602.
